The 31st National Conference on Preventing Crime in the Black Community was held May 25 – 27, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency in Miami, Florida. The Florida Consortium of Urban League Affiliates, along with Derrick Brooks Charities, manages the state's Black-On-Black and Youth Crime Prevention and Intervention grant programs. The conference is a collaborative effort sponsored by Attorney General Pam Bondi to foster communication and action among practitioners through the sharing of innovative ideas and prevention strategies that have been successful in the black community. A major component of the program is directed toward alternatives to violence among our young people. The agenda is designed to showcase successful programs and promote a positive exchange of ideas on the subject.
The Jacksonville Urban League sponsored eight youth to attend the conference under the Youth Crime Prevention and Intervention Program (CPI) based on a merit system. Students received merit points based on program attendance, grades, behavior and program recruitment.
