ARE YOU A VICTIM OF CRIME?

Help begins with us....

The Jacksonville Urban League's Victim of Crime Assistance Services assist crime victims who have suffered physical, sexual, financial, or emotional harm as the result of a crime.  

Services Include:

Information and Referral

  • Information about the criminal justice process
  • Information about victim rights, how to obtain notification, etc.
  • Referral to other victim services programs
  • Referral to other services, supports and resources

Personal Advocacy/Accompaniment 

  • Victim advocacy/accompaniment to emergency medical care
  • Intervention with employer, creditor, or landlord
  • Child and/or dependent care assistance 
  • Transportation assistance
  • Ensure that victims are properly informed of their rights, including their right to seek advice of an attorney. 

Assistance with victim compensation application 

  • Crisis intervention, hotline/crisis line counseling 
  • Therapy (traditional, cultural, alternative, healing: art, writing, or play therapy, etc.)
  • Individual and family counseling
  • Support groups
  • Emergency financial assistance

Shelter/Housing Services

  • Emergency shelter

Criminal/Civil Justice System Assistance 

  • Notification of criminal events
  • Victim impact statement assistance 
  • Emergency justice - related assistance 
  • Criminal advocacy/accompaniment 

Supports for the following Victims

  • Adult Physical Assault 
  • Bullying 
  • Burglary 
  • Domestic and/or Family Violence
  • Elder Abuse of Neglect
  • Robbery 
  • Stalking/Harassment
